This program was launched on a historic occasion, where the Mayor of Indore, Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav, and UNAccc signed an MOU to achieve Sustainable Development Goals. The event also honored sanitation workers who have worked tirelessly to make Indore the cleanest city in India for the 8th time.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Union Minister Savitri Thakur Empowers 250 Women with Solar Induction Cooking Stoves in Indore.

Indore, September 19, 2025 – In a significant step towards promoting sustainable living and women’s empowerment, the Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India, Smt. Savitri Thakur, distributed 250 solar induction cooking stoves to empowered women under the UNAccc Sustainable Living City and Solar Housing Program. This event aligns with the launch of the #SwasthMahilaSashaktParivar Movement by PM Modi on September 17, 2025, aimed at promoting women’s health and empowerment.

The event was held at Jaal Sabhgaar, Indore, and was attended by Shri Pratap Karosiya, Chairman, MP State Sanitary Workers’ Commission (Cabinet Minister Rank), as the Special Invited Guest. During the event, Smt. Savitri Thakur honored Mrs. Seema Alawa, Additional DCP (Indore), with the Pratibha Global Rare Achievement Award in memory of Late Pratibha Tripathi Pandit, a senior MP State Police Officer who lost her life in the line of duty due to post-COVID complications in 2024.

Impact:
This initiative is expected to save 250 houses up to 90% on LPG, resulting in an approximate saving of ₹900 per month for each woman, translating to an annual saving of ₹10,000 per woman. For 250 women, this amounts to a total annual saving of ₹25,00,000. Additionally, this initiative will contribute to a significant reduction in carbon emissions.

The event was organized by the Unity of Nations Action For Climate Change Council (UNAccc). Dr. Rajat Sharma, Founder President of UNAccc, welcomed the chief guest and expressed gratitude to Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav for his support. Guest of honor included Fmr. IPS M K Tandon (Director, UNAccc), Abhijit Kemkar (MD, UNAccc), Kaushlendra Pandey (UP Chairman of UNAccc), and MP State Chairman Shri Shishir Pandit. The event also received CSR support from Sahyog Brand by Silver Leaf Chemicals Pvt Ltd. (Lucknow, UP).

The solar induction cooking stoves will reduce the women’s dependence on traditional cooking fuels, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment. The program is expected to positively impact the lives of beneficiaries and their families.
